Margaret H. Thompson, 93, formerly of Eau Claire, and more recently of Oak Gardens Assisted Living Facility, Altoona, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.\r\nMargaret was born in Eau Claire on December 19, 1914, a daughter of Peter and Anna (Rykken) Johnson. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1933. She married George E. Thompson on August 2, l937, in Eau Claire. George preceded her in death on May 3, l973.\r\nMargaret had worked at the Wisconsin Unemployment Compensation office in Eau Claire, and then for several years as a secretary at UW-Eau Claire until retiring in 1980.\r\nShe was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church.\r\nMargaret is survived by her daughters, Kay (Ronald) Ganong of Janesville and Karen (Robert) Anderson of Boyceville; her son, George Peter Thompson (Brigid) of Jacksonville, Fl; nine grandchildren, Scott (Ann) Ganong, Brian (Tammy) Ganong, Steven (Lindsay) Ganong, Jamie Anderson, Jodi (Jeff) Schutt, Julie (Bob) Schaaf, Amy (Rick) Rodriguez, Eric (Candace) Thompson and Emily Thompson; eleven great-grandchildren; and six nieces, including Janice Isaacson and Lois Dodge both of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Peter and Oscar; and four sisters, Alma, Agnes, Ann and Edna.\r\nMargaret will be sadly missed by her family and friends.\r\nHer family would like to thank the staff at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home and Dr. Lokkesmoe for their care of Margaret.\r\nMemorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in the chapel at Grace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with the Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church chapel.
