Obituary

Margaret G. Weichel, 92, of Eau Claire and formerly of Chicago, IL, died Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Dove Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born in Chicago on November 20, 1914, the daughter of Christian and Elise (Woppenschnur) Glenz.\r\nShe graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. \r\nMargaret was employed at her family's business, Dixie Pine Tar, in Chicago, IL.\r\nShe married Elmer V. Weichel in Tacoma, WA on December 2, 1944.\r\nShe was a lifelong member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Chicago and a member of the Chicago Garden Club.\r\nShe was an 87 year resident of Chicago, living many of those years in the Wildwood District. She moved to Eau Claire in 2002.\r\nMargaret is survived by her sister-in-law, Lorene Wachter of Eau Claire; two nieces, Kay Kennedy and Nancy Howard both of Eau Claire; great nieces and great nephews; and cousins, including Irene Buethe of Glen Ellyn, IL.\r\nShe is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer in 1972; her parents; and cousins, Dr. Edward Banner and Donald Banner.\r\nPrivate family services will be held Friday, February 23, 2007, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Richards officiating. Funeral services will also be held at 11 a.m. Saturday on March 3, 2007, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Chicago. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to the Eau Claire Humane Society, 3900 Old Town Hall Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701 or St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1500 W.
