Obituary

Anna Cochrane Anna Marian Cochrane, 91, of Eau Claire died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at her home. She was born in Minneapolis, MN, on September 1, 1918, a daughter of Amos and Elsie (Narland) Thompson. \r\nMarian was raised in Minneapolis and attended public school there. Following graduation from high school, she attended Miss Wood's Kindergarten and Primary Training School. Upon earning her teaching certificate she taught kindergarten for three years in Thief River Falls, MN. \r\nWhile in Thief River Falls, she met William G. Cochrane. They were married in Minneapolis on August 20, 1941. During the course of their marriage they resided primarily in Eau Claire, WI and had four sons.\r\nMarian was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, University Women's Association, and Chapter BE, P.E.O. Sisterhood. \r\nMarian is survived by her four sons, David (Jackie), Robert (Denny Scharlemann), Carl (Dianne) and Richard (Susan) Cochrane; five grandchildren, Angela (Shaheen) Hobbeheydar, Jared Cochrane, Elena (Matthew Kornis) Cochrane, Kelsey Cochrane and Taylor Cochrane; two great grandchildren, Sadie and Soyer Hobbeheydar; sister, Gloria (Byron) Petersen; and nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, William; a grandson, Craig Cochrane; her parents; and four brothers, Floyd, Hayne, Robert and Sterling Thompson. \r\nFriends and family thought of Marian as a special person whose loving, positive and cheerful attitude was a gift to all. \r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, with the Reverend Rolf Nestingen officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark, Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the Church. \r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to the History Department Scholarship at the UW-EC Foundation, Schofield Hall 214, 1105 Garfield Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54703 or to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W.
