Marie P. Johnson, 95, of Eau Claire, died on Monday, August 5, 2013, at Wisconsin Veterans Home of Chippewa Falls, WI. Marie was born on October 8, 1917, in the Township of Unity, to William and Rose (Bauers) Zinsmaster. Marie married Lester Johnson on June 30, 1937, at Holy Guardian Angels Church in Brackett, WI. She was a loving mother and homemaker. After her children were grown she worked at Sacred Heart Hospital as a nurse's assistant until her retirement. In her retirement she did volunteer work, gardening, sewing, reading, and fishing. Most of all, she loved her family, friends, and faith. Marie is survived by her four children, Yvonne (Ray) Kruschke of Pelican Lake, WI, Karen (Richard) Fry of White Bear Lake, MN, William (Carol Ann) Johnson of Gig Harbor, WA, and Thomas (Sue) Johnson of Eau Claire; fourteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Lester; parents; four brothers; and a sister. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, with a Public Prayer Vigil beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 416 N. Dewey St., Eau Claire with Fr. George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire.
