Obituary

Marie B. Knudtson, 100, of Eau Claire died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Luther Hospital.She was born near Rotterdam, Holland, on March 14, 1910, a daughter of Henrich and Maria (Van Gemert) Visser. She came to the United States landing at Ellis Island with her mother, to join her father on a dairy farm in Ohio on December 5, 1911. They moved to the Eau Claire area in 1923.\r\nMarie married George M. Knudtson on November 17, 1928 in St. Paul, MN.\r\nShe worked 35 years as a meat cutter at Armour's Meats until her retirement in 1975.\r\nShe was a Gold Star Mother, a member of VFW Post #305 Women's Auxiliary, and the 1910 er's Club. Marie enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states.\r\nShe enjoyed making quilts for all her family members, and lap robes for the nursing home and Veterans Hospital.\r\nMarie was compassionate, caring and always ready to help any one in need. \r\nMarie is survived by a her four sons, George Jr. (Roberta) Knudtson of Union Grove, Richard (June) Knudtson of Fall Creek, Donald (Beverly) Knudtson of Olathe, KS, Jerry (Kathleen) Knudtson of West Salem; her daughter, Delores (Delbert) Jungerberg of Green Bay; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Loiselle of Milwaukee and Joan (Robert) Hoover of Chippewa Falls; sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, in 1993; two granddaughters, Helen Knudtson and Laurie Hoehne; a great grandson, Nathan Hoehne; three brothers, William, Peter, and Harry Visser; four sisters, Baradina Visser, Dorothy Malash, Wilhelmina Bollom, and Adrianna Shilts.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fall Creek with Pastor Larry Borgelt officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
