Marie M. (Comerford) Smuhl, 95, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at her home in Eau Claire. Marie, a daughter of Joseph and Julia (Sokup) Comerford of Chippewa Falls, was born on November 6, 1919. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School and on August 3, 1940, married Chester Smuhl of Eau Claire. Marie's favorite times were spent with her family of four children, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. Marie was a life-long bowler, gardener, reader, camper and card player. Marie was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served on the Womens' Auxillary. Marie is survived by her three children, Dawne M. (Richard) Schreiner-Sutton, James (Jaye) Smuhl, and Michael A. Smuhl; grandchildren, Jan Paul (Heidi) Schreiner, James A. (Chris) Schreiner, Jeffery M. (Becka) Schreiner, Lori A. Schreiner, Bailey A. Smuhl, Sydney A. Dun, David A. Smuhl, Kyle Smuhl, Chad Smuhl, Tony Smuhl, Patricia Smuhl and Amanda Wedlund; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian (Vern) White, Betty Hudson and Gloria (Dick) Dell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; daughter, Debra A. Smuhl-Wedlund; daughter-in-law, Devon "Dee" Dewey; son-in-law, Dick Schreiner; great-grandson, Jesse A. Schreiner; four brothers, Donald (Doris) Comerford, David Comerford, Jack Comerford, and Bill Comerford; two sisters, Dorothy Farmer and Lorraine Nicolai. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 322 Fulton St. in Eau Claire with Father George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of the Mass at the church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Eau Claire.
