Marilyn Francis (Bauer) Kent, born on March 3, 1942, in Mondovi, Wisconsin to parents, LaVerne & Gertrude (Weiss) Bauer, has passed away at the age of 82. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi. Marilyn grew up as the oldest of ten children in the Gilmanton area, attending elementary schools in Gilmanton, Oak Grove (one room school), Mondovi (Sacred Heart) and Waumandee (St. Boniface). She graduated with honors from Gilmanton High School with the Class of 1960. Following high school, she lived in St. Paul, Minnesota and was employed by GTC Auto Parts for 9 years. On June 23, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Kent at Sacred Heart Church in Mondovi. They were blessed with three sons. In 1969, they moved their young family to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. When all 3 sons were in school, she was employed by the Chippewa Valley Technical College as an Instructional Assistant (Math) in Academic Services (Study Skills Center). She retired from CVTC in 2001, after 28 years of employment. Marilyn enjoyed word and number puzzles, reading, bowling and watching her children and grandchildren play sports and any other activities they were involved in. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gary, their three sons, Steve (Michelle), Troy (Sylvia), and Brian (Jodi), seven grandchildren, Nathan (Mariena), Heather, Rachel (Matt) Bemis, Matthew (Amanda), Mariah, Anna & Tyler, and four great grandchildren, Revlin, Quillin, Crosby and Grace. Two sisters: Sharon (John) Wilke and Kathleen (Mark) Dieckman. Seven brothers: Gary (Karen), Doug (Julie), Bob (Diane), David (Dorothy), Mark, Ed (Becky) and Rick (Shari). Mother-in-law, Eileen Smiskey, brother-in-law, David Kent, sisters-in-law, Donna Meistad, Betty Hovey, Susie Kent & Janie (Steve) Palchik, special friends, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, niece, aunts, uncles and cousins. Marilyn was soft-spoken and always good natured. Her love will be greatly missed. Marilyn and her family would like to send a special thank you to Heritage at Oakwood Hills Assisted Living for their special, loving care for the last three months. And to St. Croix Hospice for their precious and kind assistance over the last couple of weeks. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, September 26, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe Street, Eau Claire, with Father James Kurzynski officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, September 25, at the WEST CHAPEL- Lenmark - Gomsrud - Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, 1405 N. Clairemont Avenue, Eau Claire with a prayer vigil service at 6:30 PM. A one-hour visitation will also take place prior to mass at the church. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Lunch will be served at the church following the service. Online condolences may be shared at www.lenmarkfh.com.
