Marilyn G. Bollinger, 88, formerly of Eau Claire, WI, died Saturday, March 1, 2025, at The Classic in Altoona, WI with her family by her side.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church (1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire, WI) with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Church on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Marilyn was born in Red Wing, MN on July 7, 1936, the daughter of Wesley and Gaynell (Augustine) Swanson. She married Jim Bollinger on December 28, 1957, in Stanley, WI. Marilyn and Jim celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in December and were true partners in all aspects of their lives. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Marilyn was a talented needleworker and created many beautiful pieces including much of the artwork that hangs on the walls of their home. She also enjoyed golfing and reading. They spent the early years of retirement in Arizona each winter where she was able to do lots of both. She was an excellent cook and loved hosting family gatherings. Marilyn was a long-time, involved member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Eau Claire chapter of PEO International.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters: Ann (Mike) O'Brien, Amy (Tim) Schroepfer, Sue (Rick) Stoughton, son: Jon, grandchildren: Eric (Terran) O'Brien, Adam (Jessica) O'Brien, Andy (Audrey) Schroepfer, Molly (Jordan) Piche, Emily (Jordan) Lieffring, great-grandchildren: Layla Lieffring, Isaac and Lucas O'Brien, brother Richard (Sonja) Swanson, brothers-in-law: Jerry (Lynne) Bollinger, John (Marcia) Bollinger and is further survived by ten nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Joe Partlow.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Classic at Hillcrest Greens for the exceptional, compassionate care and support they provided.
Memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church food pantry or to a charity of your choice.
