Marjorie E. Joseph, 99, of Naperville, IL, and formerly of Eau Claire died Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Naperville, IL. Marjorie was born in Strum, WI on February 22, 1914, the daughter of Melvin P. and Goldie (Cardinal) Skogstad. She graduated from Osseo High School with the class of 1931 and attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Later she was employed at the Bank of Osseo and then at the American National Bank in Eau Claire. Marjorie married Robert M. Joseph on October 8, 1939, at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI. They then moved to Staten Island, N.Y. while Robert served in the U.S. Navy. Later they lived in Minneapolis and Louisville, Kentucky for 40 years and returned to Eau Claire in 1983. Robert passed away in Eau Claire in 1983. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Friendship Club at Grace Lutheran Church. She was also a member of Eau Claire Country Club, Pine Meadow Golf Club, Luther Hospital Auxiliary, and Chippewa Valley Museum. She was an avid golfer and her hobby was making quilts for Lutheran World Relief and had donated more than a hundred. Marjorie is survived by her niece, Kathleen McCuen of Lisle, IL; great-niece, Sarah Elizabeth Steele of Washington DC; a sister-in-law, Ann Skogstad of Grayson, KY; and a niece, Karen Skogstad of Grayson, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; brother, Stanford P. Skogstad in 1978; sister, Jean McCuen in 2012; and a brother-in-law, Carl McCuen in 2007. Family request memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54703. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor David Irgens officiating. Burial will be in Osseo Cemetery in Osseo, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
