Marjory A. Rylander, 84, of 342 Twin Oak Dr., Altoona, died Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Dove Healthcare. She was born in Eau Claire July 15, 1919, the daughter of Maurice and Anna (Pederson) Birge. Marjory married Glen F. Rylander on June 18, 1949 in Eau Claire.\r\nShe graduated from nursing school and worked at Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis. \r\nMarjory served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps during World War II, from 1943 to 1946. A Lieutenant j.g., she used her G.I. Bill educational benefits to become a licensed private pilot.\r\nShe was a registered nurse working at Midelfort Clinic and Luther Hospital until her retirement in 1981.\r\nMarjory was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Luther Hospital Auxiliary and Samaritan Club, and a 50 year member of Eau Claire Chapter No.126 Order of the Eastern Star. \r\nShe is survived by her daughter, Beth (John) DeRosier of Eau Claire; son, Gary Rylander of Chicago; sister, Mary J. Coyer of Mahtomedi, MN; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Rylander of Barronett and Edwin "Bud" Rylander of Cumberland; sister-in-law, Mae (Harlan) Vehrs of New Richmond; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Glen, in January 2000. \r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will present military graveside rites. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and an hour prior to services on Wednesday. There will be a 6:30 p.m. Eastern Star Service Tuesday at the church.
