Mark A. Lingenfelter, 53, of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at his home. Mark was born on December 8, 1961, in Burke, South Dakota, to Merlon and Bonnie (Jardine) Lingenfelter. He attended school at St. Pius V in Albany, MN and received his HSED from Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire. Mark achieved his pilot license at the age of 19, and enjoyed flying small engine planes. He had various jobs over the years such as carpenter and troubleshooting for Baby Think It Over. In 1996, Mark was diagnosed with Pompe's Disease (Acid Maltase Deficiency) which is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that he battled bravely over the years. He was a selfless man who thought of everyone before himself and never gave up hope for finding a cure for Pompe's Disease. Mark is survived by his mother, Bonnie (Ron) Lingenfelter; wife, Bette Emerson; two step-sons, Jesse (Melissa) Emerson, Boyd (Tara) Gallati II; special friend, Terriann Halvorson-Gallati; three brothers, Merlon (Julia) Lingenfelter, Michael Lingenfelter and Patrick (Karla) Lingenfelter; also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Merlon; both sets of grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire. A private family service will be held.
