Marshall A. Quigg passed away June 29, 2010. Born August 2, 1924, Marshall's parents were Frank and Mary (Nowak) Quigg. Raised in the East Grand Ave. area, Marshall enjoyed an early childhood exploring the banks of the Eau Claire River. Later his family moved to the Mount Simon area where he became a great fan of watching softball. Educated at St. Patrick's school, Marshall was a lifetime admirer of the nun's service. Following high school graduation, Marshall got a teaching degree from UW Eau Claire and obtained a M.S. in Civil War History at UW Madison. During his schooling, he found a lifetime hobby in reading history books.Marshall's brother in-law, Tom Mitchell, found him a temporary job at U.S Rubber/Uniroyal after his graduation. That job was to give him employment for over 37 years. For most of his career he worked as Quality Assurance Manager. He had the pleasure of working with many excellent people that made his life much easier. Marshall's retirement was a happy one. Thanks to his good friend Don Mathison, Marshall enjoyed having the earliest ripened tomatoes in the neighborhood. Marshall also joined the Golden Kiwanis. It was there that interesting speakers gave him an insight into the real world. Kiwanis widened his circle of friends. It was Marshall's sincere hope that the Kiwanis will find more members.Marshall appreciated all the help he got from his friends at the desk of the L.E. Philips Library rounding up books. He felt the library is a blessing to all who live in Eau Claire.Marshall felt lucky that he lived longer than any other male family member of his generation. He was thankful for Dr. Weiss and the staff of the Midelfort clinic who treated him with kindness and respect.Marshall was blessed with a great family. When Marshall married Lenore, he also became part of the Scheffler family. He was grateful for all the things Lenore did for their family, from balancing the checkbook to arranging summer vacations to places like Gooseberry Falls on Lake Superior's North Shore and Yellowstone National Park. They would also visit his brother, Jim, when in Wyoming. Marshall is survived by his wife Lenore; children, Mary (Sylvain) Verbelen, Kevin (Gloria) Quigg, Kara Quigg and Louise (Tim) Scott; and grandchildren Anna, Madeline, Elizabeth and Yuxara. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, James, Evelyn, Francis, and Mary Ellen.Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Church in Eau Claire with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving his family.In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to give memorials to the L.E.
