Marvin R. Solberg, 86, of Eau Claire, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, with his family by his side, at Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire, under the care of Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice. He was born on February 3, 1927, in Eau Claire, to Emil and Mabel (Gilbert) Solberg. Immediately after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from January 30, 1945, to July 10, 1946. He began working in the shipping department at Uniroyal in 1947, and retired from there in 1988. On May 5, 1951, he married Leatrice Stone at Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, WI. Marvin was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He spent 66 years going to the family cabin on Willard Lake in Ontario, Canada, where he enjoyed fishing and riding his ATV. Marvin enjoyed traveling with Leatrice to Hawaii, Alaska, and Norway. Marvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Leatrice; son, Thomas (Diane) Solberg of Eau Claire, WI; granddaughters, Heather (John) Bradberg of Winona, MN and Jessica Solberg of Eau Claire WI; great-grandson, Connor Bradberg; brothers, Norman (Arlene) Solberg and Lamoine (Jackie) Solberg; sisters, Jeanann (Lamoine) Stone and Jeanine Helwig, all of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Jerome Wollum and Martin Helwig. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd. in Eau Claire with Pastor Jim Page officiating. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Rock Falls Cemetery in Rock Creek Township, Dunn County, WI. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Azura Memory Care and Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice for their care for Marvin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice.
