Obituary

Mary A. Austin, 80, of Eau Claire passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at her home. Mary was born on May 8, 1931, in Chippewa Falls, WI, to Michael and Mary Grace Dupey, where she grew up on a farm with eight brothers and sisters. On October 28, 1950, she married the love of her life, Floyd J. Austin, in Eau Claire, and they were blessed with four children. Mary loved volunteering her time at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, local nursing homes and was an active member of the senior center. She cherished spending time with her family and was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by three children, John (Sandra) Austin of Tunkhannock, PA, Thomas (Sara) Austin of Fond du Lac, WI, and Donna (David) Peterson of Eau Claire; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Kouba and Connie Rose; one brother, David (Janice) Dupey; daughter-in-law, Jane Austin; and also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Floyd; son, James (Rita) Austin; two sisters, Fran and Pat; three brothers, Jim, Bob and Mike. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011, at Noon, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St. in Eau Claire, with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., with a Public Prayer Vigil beginning at 2:30 p.m., and also one hour prior to the Mass on Monday, at the church. Mary will be remembered for her compassion, joy of life, unique sense of humor and for sharing her delicious cookies and pies. The family extends their sincere appreciation to Mary's wonderful neighbors for their help and support through the years.
