Obituary

Mary Lee Johnson (Giammona), 85 of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by her beloved husband and four daughters. She was born on December 8, 1939 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Peter and Lois Giammona. She grew up in Eau Claire and attended Saint Patrick's and Regis High School. Mary Lee and Meriland (Pearly) Johnson met for the first time at Rocky's Root Beer Stand on Water Street after being introduced by her sister, Sandra Giammona. They were married on July 1, 1961 and they enjoyed a loving and happy 63 years of marriage. She was a generous, loving, and kind-hearted person to all who knew her and often quietly to those who did not. She was active in her community and church as a county board member and with the Saint Patrick's Guild. Mary Lee was always ahead of her time and found great joy and success in owning and operating Mary Lee's General Store on Water Street. She loved meeting new people and hearing their stories. She and Pearly were co-owners with family in operating The Camaraderie on Water Street and the Silver Dollar in Menomonie. Both were truly "A Place For All People". One of her favorite places for peace was at the family cottage in Chetek, where she enjoyed fish fries, family, and friends. Mary Lee is survived by her beloved husband, Meriland (Pearly) Johnson, her daughters; Catherine (Carrie) Johnson, Sandra Mouledoux, Christine Johnston, and Mary (Tom) Roy; her siblings; Sandra Giammona, Joseph (Mary) Giammona, and John (Polly) Giammona; her grandchildren; Jennifer (Aaron) Peterson, Sarah Johnson, Clark Mouldeoux, Lynda Mouledoux, Brandy Mouledoux, Shannon Johnston, Tommy (Kylie) Johnston, Jessica (Tanner) Beaman, Joseph (Nicole) Roach, Travis (Heather) Roy, Nathan (Kriscillia) Roy, Cameron (Michelle) Roy, Clara Roy; her great grandchildren; Lucy and Claire, Royce and Brynn, Grace and Emma, Caedock, Cassin, Kora Lee, and Kovie, Kaladin, Nolan and Ronan, and Emersyn. Mary Lee was proceeded in death by her parents; Peter and Lois Giammona, in-laws, Neiland and Esther Johnson and many other cherished family members.
