Obituary

Mary I. Hackey, 79, of Eau Claire died Saturday, November 22, 2003 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. She was born May 28, 1924 in Virginia, Minnesota the daughter of Paul and Stella (Galaski) Karpenski. She graduated from Virginia High School with the class of 1942. Mary moved to Eau Claire and was united in marriage to Archie A. Hackey here on September 21, 1946. \r\nShe worked at National Presto, Webster Candy Co., and then at Westgate Laundromat until retiring due to her health.\r\nMary and Archie spent many summers at their trailer site at Chetek. She had enjoyed her card clubs, cross stitching, crocheting, knitting, reading, and discussing current and historical events with her family. Everyone will remember her great sense of humor.\r\nMary is survived by her daughter, Cookie (Leo Jr.) Koger of Eau Claire their two daughters Laura (Mike) Steinke and their children, Jarica Le and Reegan of Eau Claire, and Shannon (Jeff) Wilczek and children Tanner and LaKiah of Chippewa Falls; a step-daughter, Jeanette (Warren) Jobin of Hibbing, MN and their family; aunts and uncles; and her dog, Bitsy.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Archie in 1980; a brother, John Karpenski; and her sister, Stella Karpenski.\r\nMemorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Father Edmund Klimek officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. \r\n
