Obituary

Mary "Marie" Marjala, died peacefully on March 7, 2012. Mary was born on March 11, 1926, in Superior WI, to Charles and Fannie (Daly) Heirman. Marie and her sisters, Jean, Kathleen and Charleen (Buzzy) are the famous/infamous "Heirman Girls." Marie and Gordon married on November 30, 1948, and after a grand celebration at the Belgian Club in Allouez (Superior, WI), moved to Kenosha, WI where they raised their family. Marie worked for the State of WI - Job Services for 34 years and on the day she retired, Mayor John Bilotti declared the day "Marie Marjala Day" (another grand celebration). Being raised during the Depression, Marie believed that life is not measured by what you own, but by family, faith and friends. Mary and Gordon were blessed with two sons, Donald (Patricia) Marjala of Eau Claire, WI and Robert (Colleen) Marjala of Zion, IL; five grandchildren, Monica Marjala, Leslie (William) Spangler, Aaron Marjala, Andrew (Jessica) Marjala and Thomas Kane; and four great-grandchildren, Sylvia, Ava, Nolan, and Amelia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the Newman Parish of the Ecumenical Religious Center of UW-EC, with Father George Szews officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Eau Claire, WI.
