It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and untimely passing of Matthew Devney Blodgett on June 14th, 2023, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Matthew was born and raised in Eau Claire and Bloomer Wisconsin. Matthew was a beacon of kindness and love, leaving a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. His unexpected departure has left a void in the lives of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with this extraordinary soul. Matthew had an unparalleled ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He possessed a genuine and accepting nature that disregarded differences and instead focused on the worth of each individual. Matthew's compassionate spirit knew no boundaries, as he embraced everyone he encountered with open arms. He effortlessly made friends wherever he went, leaving behind a trail of laughter and joy. A true joker at heart, Matthew had an unmatched sense of humor. He had a knack for finding humor in the simplest of things and never hesitated to brighten someone's day with his infectious laughter. Even at his own expense, Matthew's lighthearted nature reminded us all not to take life too seriously. Many fond memories were created during gatherings with friends, especially at the hilltop, where Matthew could be found sharing a bud and enjoying the company of those around him. However, on Packer Sundays, his undying loyalty to his beloved team made it nearly impossible to divert his attention elsewhere. Matthew's generosity knew no bounds. He possessed a selflessness that was truly inspiring, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer his support. He embodied the true meaning of compassion. His acts of kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact that will continue to resonate. Matthew leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be carried on by his grieving family. He is survived by his mother, Vicki (Dennis) Hoffman, his father, David (Mary Jo) Blodgett , His grandparents Bernie Blodgett and Dale Johnson, his siblings, Nakia Hestekin, Stacy (Mitch) Tibbitts, Brandi (John) Nicolai, and Ben (Kelsey) Blodgett. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends, all of whom were blessed to have known him. Matthew is preceded in death by his Grandparents Kathy Johnson, Barb Jennings, Pat Devney, His Uncle Pat Blodgett, Aunt Linda, and his Aunt Ann Dulac. During this difficult time, let us remember Matthew Devney Blodgett for the beautiful person he was-a soul who embraced life with open arms, spreading joy and laughter wherever he went. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will live on as a reminder to love unconditionally, accept others without judgment, and cherish the moments we share with our loved ones. May Matthew find eternal peace, and may his loved ones find solace in the cherished memories they hold dear. A grave side service will be held at St. Patrick's cemetery on June 23rd at 11am with a lunch to follow at the VFW.
