Matthew J. Girolamo, 95, of 2512 Spooner Ave., Altoona, died Friday, May 31, 1996 at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born in Bessemer, Michigan on November 11, 1900 to Daniel and Magdalana Girolamo. He moved to the Eau Claire area with his Family shortly after his birth. Matthew married Bernice Cantlon in Eau Claire on February 23, 1938 and they farmed in the Town of Union until his retirement. He was a member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church. \r\nSurvivors include a son, Richard (Sharon) of Harmony,MN; three daughters, Maryann (James) Schigur of San Juan Capistrano, CA., Susan (Ralph) Megahan of Forest Lake, MN, and Diane (Gary) Barneson of Eau Claire; six grandchildren and one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mae Difanis and Margaret (Fred) Berndt both of Eau Claire; two brothers, John Girolamo of Eau Claire and Tom (Mary) Girolamo of Beloit; two sisters-in-law, Verda Webb of Sarasota, Fl, and Mary Goldbeck of Eau Claire.\r\nMatthew was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; two brothers, Tony and Louie and a sister, Genevieve Difanis.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at St. James the Greater Catholic Church with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery.\r\nFriends may call 4 to 7 P.M. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home, where there will be a 6:45 P.M. prayer service, and an one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
