Mavis L. Fahrman, 87, of Eau Claire, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2015, at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with her family by her side. Mavis was born on January 4, 1928, in Chimney Rock, WI to Melvin and Lillie (Olson) Holstad. She graduated from Independence High School with the Class of 1946. After school, she came to Eau Claire and worked at Benson's Optical where she met her future husband, Jerome Fahrman. They were married in Eau Claire on December 16, 1950 and together they raised nine children. Mavis was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church and found great joy in being a part of all the church activities. She enjoyed square dancing, golfing, playing cards and spending time with her family. Even through the tragic losses in her life, Mavis was more than a survivor. She chose to thrive and celebrate new life whenever she had a chance. Her faith and sense of humor were an inspiration to us all. Mavis is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerome; six children, Greg (Kathie) Fahrman of Altoona, Rhonda (Bill) Nispel of Eau Claire, Cindy Fahrman of Eau Claire, Jim (Jodi) Fahrman of Fall Creek, Mary (John) Lippert of Eau Claire and Tricia (Todd) Lenz of Altoona; fifteen grandchildren, Melissa, Nathan, Sara, Katie, Jeremy, Laura, Emily, Becca, Jordan, Allie, Jacob, Cameron, Caitlyn, Conner and Joshua; 10 great-grandchildren, Nick, Ethan, Jaedon, Ivan, Summer, Preston, Calvin, Isabelle, Gabriella and Madelyn; sister, Frances Eide of Strum; brother, Jerry (Shirley) Holstad of Cary, NC; sister-in-law, Ella Holstad of Whitehall; and also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Jeff, Susie and Jan; daughter-in-law, Diane Fahrman; two brothers, Hiram and John Holstad; and a sister, Ruby Mathson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St. in Eau Claire, with Father Paul Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 6:45 p.m., on Friday, November 13, 2015, at the WEST CHAPEL of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the Mass of Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Sacred Heart Hospital for all the love and care shown to her and our family.
