Maxine Inez
Brickner
August 31, 1944 – May 10, 2025
Maxine I. Brickner, due to dementia related health issues, peacefully passed away on May 10th, 2025 at Our House Senior Living, Eau Claire, WI. The family would like to thank the staff of Our House, Moments Hospice and Mayo Clinic for her care. Maxine was born on August 31, 1944 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Issac and Marvel Kindem. She was raised on their family farm, attended school in Oberon, ND. After graduation, she attended Valley City State College. Maxine received her Elementary Teaching Certificate and in 1964 married Charles Brickner. After an initial one year stop in Butte, ND, the next three years saw Maxine teaching kindergarten and third grade in Sheyenne, ND. In 1968, the family moved to the University of North Dakota, allowing her husband to complete his graduate studies. The family then spent five years in Brookings South Dakota and an additional five years in Chamberlain, SD. During that time her family grew to three children Suzanne, Gregory and Michael. Desiring to strengthen family ties, they moved to Carrington, ND where they resided for twenty-five years. Maxine found joy in family activities, her flower garden, reading and sewing. She served as a teacher aide for six years at the local preschool. Upon retirement Maxine and Charles moved to Rice Lake, WI. She focused her time and energy on family and just loved being with her children and attending all of her grandchildren's activities. Maxine is survived by her husband, Charles Brickner of Altoona, WI; Children, Suzanne (David) Spizman of Cambridge, MN, Gregory (Christy) Brickner of Eau Claire, and Michael Brickner of Baxter, MN. Grandchildren; Elli and Alex Spizman; Brianna, Caleb, Molly and Josh Brickner; Ty and Charlee Brickner. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Issac and Marvel Kindem and her brother, Delno Kindem. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Carrington Preschool, 775 2nd St. N. Carrington, ND. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th Street in Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire.
