Maxine A. Christopher, age 88, of Eau Claire, died on November 16, 2011, at Dove Healthcare South in Eau Claire. Maxine was born in Bloomer, WI on March 24, 1923, to Carl and Hilda (Gravunder) Berg. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomer, WI. She was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church of Eau Claire. Maxine graduated from Bloomer High School in 1940. She then attended Eau Claire Vocational School, graduating in 1943. Maxine joined the U.S. Navy (WAVES) in 1944 until being Honorably Discharged in 1946 with the rank of WAVES Yeoman 2nd Class. She was stationed at Hunter College, NY; State College, Cedar Falls, IA (Yeoman School) and U.S. Naval Station Farragut, ID. After her service, she returned to Eau Claire and worked at the State Teachers College, U.S. Army Reserve, NSP and Johnson Printing Company all in Eau Claire. Maxine married Roger Christopher on March 3, 1951, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomer, WI. Maxine is survived by her two brothers, Ronald Berg and Carlton Berg both of St. Francis, WI; sisters-in-law, Eunice Berg of Cecil, WI and Norma Christopher of Eau Claire; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger in 1988; and her brother, Margon "Bud" Berg in 1998. Funeral Service will be at 11AM on Friday, November 18, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church, Chapel, 202 West Grand Ave., Eau Claire, with Pastor David Irgens officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
