Maye Wright Clem died on Friday, February 20, 2004 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin at Luther Hospital of complications from a stroke suffered in October of 2003. She moved to Wisconsin after having spent forty-nine years in California, thirty-one of which in North County, San Diego.\r\nBorn in Linton, Indiana on May 30, 1917, Maye was raised outside of Pittsburgh, PA and attended nursing school at Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a flight attendant for United Airlines where she met and married the love of her life, Francis "Bill" Clem on April 2, 1941. Through their marriage of sixty-two years, they lived in Louisville, KY, Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, Los Angeles, CA and Solana Beach, CA, where they retired from the airline industry.\r\nMaye loved to play golf and bridge with friends and enjoyed traveling the world. She was a loving mother, a dear friend and a loyal wife. She will be dearly missed by those that knew her.\r\nShe is survived by her three children, Carole Barbara Charlson (C.H. Stuart) of Eau Claire, WI, Robert William Clem (Grace) of Paxton, IL, and John Walter Clem (Ellen) of Seattle, WA; her sister, Elsa Moore of Pittsburgh, PA; and eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.\r\nMaye will join her husband at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at San Diego, CA for interment.
