Mayson D. Taylor, 91, of the town of Union died Sunday January 11, 2004, at Dove Healthcare&Rehabilitation. He was born May 31, 1912 in Eau Claire, the son of Charles and Rose (Hawes) Taylor. He graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1930, and then attended Agriculture school in Madison.\r\nMayson married Lily Mae Van Dalsem on April 21, 1934 in the Township of Wheaton, Chippewa County.\r\nHe farmed until 1939, worked a year at Presto Industries, and then 30 years as a baker at Tender Crust and Bunny Bread bakeries until his retirement in 1972.\r\nMayson was a member of Truax Congregational United Church of Christ and enjoyed playing Dart Ball on the church league. He was a loving and caring father who always was there for his family. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. He was also a craftsman, building his first home and later, after moving into the family home he found time to put on a large addition. He was always willing to help anyone and was a friend to everyone he met.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Lily; son, Raymond (Mary Jo) of Eau Claire; three daughters, Betty (Rolland) Rossiter of Spring Valley, Margaret Williams of Port Orchard, WA, Doris (Mike McMeans) Taylor of Port St. Lucie, FL; 17 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elsie McElmurry of Madison; nieces and nephews.\r\nPreceded in death by his parents; his son, Clyde; three brothers, Forest, Clyde and Luther.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Truax Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor David Stratton officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
