Melvin L. Anderson, 84, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, December 25, 2008, at Dove Healthcare in Eau Claire. He was born on November 20, 1924, a son of Thomas E. and Clara (Hanson) Anderson in the Town of Cleveland.\r\nMelvin married Eleanor Tande in Northfield, Wisconsin on October 10, 1946.\r\nHe was a truck driver for a number of trucking companies, including Osterman, Cary and Glendenning.\r\nHe was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Grace Dart ball league, Eau Claire Moose Lodge #1408, Teamster Local #662, and the Eau Claire Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, golfing, bowling league, and shooting pool at the Eau Claire Senior Center.\r\nSurvivors include a son, Thomas (Cheryl) Anderson of Eau Claire; three daughters, Rita (Bill) Remmel of Eau Claire, Konja (Scott) Humphries of Justin, TX and Amy (Jim) Malvin of Ham Lake, MN; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nMelvin was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth; three brothers, Norman, Elmer; and Ivan; a sister, Thelma Kielland; and two infant sisters.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Private burial will be in Northfield Cemetery in Northfield Township, WI. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.\r\n \r\n
