MERCIEL I. ARNESON, 79, 113 N. Grove St., River Falls, Wisconsin, formerly of Eau Claire, died Thursday, November 16, 2000 at her son's home in River Falls. She was born November 7, 1921 to Archibald and Edna (Green) Birtzer in Pleasant Valley Township near Eau Claire. Merciel married Tilman W. Arneson on July 19, 1947 at her parent's home and they made their home in the city of Eau Claire. \r\nShe worked at Luther Hospital as a dietary aide until her retirement in 1981. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with relatives and entertaining her grandchildren. \r\nShe was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church of Eau Claire. \r\nMerciel moved to River Falls in 1992, to live near her son, Duane.\r\nSurvivors include two sons, Gary of Hixson, TN, and Duane (Mary) of River Falls, WI; seven grandchildren, Nathan and Emily, David, Lisa, Adam, Keith and Anna; a great- granddaughter, Kayley; brother, Percy (Etta) Birtzer of Cleghorn; sister, Lillian Eckwright of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, George (Norma) Iverson of Appleton; three sisters-in-law, Mabel Birtzer of Fall Creek, Marjorie Arneson of Blair and Anna Arneson of Ettrick; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband Tilman in 1985; her parents; and two brothers, Earl and Norman.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at Lake Street United Methodist Church with Rev. David W. Blackmer officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.\r\nThe family requests memorials be directed to Heartland Hospice, P.O.
