Meredith F. Amundson, 95, of Eau Claire, died Friday, September 25, 2009, at her daughter's home in Altoona, WI. \r\nShe was born in Superior, WI on July 27, 1914, the daughter of Melvin and Gertrude (Gay) Ward.\r\nMeredith married Clarence R. "Rex" Amundson on April 26, 1933, at Norden Church in the Town of Naples.\r\nShe was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she served in Hope Circle and also a member of the Red Hat Society. \r\nMeredith and Clarence enjoyed many trips together in the United States and Europe. Above all, Meredith's family and friends were the most important part of her life.\r\nShe is survived by her son, Don (Mary Jo Bernicke) of Eau Claire; five daughters, Donna Ganong of Milwaukee, Janice (Gary) Gullikson of Rockford, IL, Barb Melby of Altoona, Sharon (Jerold) Rathke of Minong, and Mary Jo (Steven) Rathke of Eau Claire; Twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James Ward of Eau Claire; two sisters, Gwen (Col. William) Heaser of Duluth, MN, and Betty Kolb of Aiken, MN; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\nMeredith was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1997; two sons-in-law, Robert Melby and Ronald Ganong; three grandsons, Christopher Ganong, Timothy and Todd Amundson; a granddaughter, Dawn Melby; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Ellis; two brothers; and two sisters.\r\nFuneral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the time of services Wednesday at the church.
