Obituary

Merna Jean (Woodmansee) Johnson passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Luther Hospital.\r\nShe was born on March 13, 1928 in Madison, Wisconsin to Roswell Park Woodmansee and Loretta Eleanor (Buck) Woodmansee. She graduated from New Auburn High School in 1946 and went on to nurses' training at Luther Hospital, graduating in 1949. She was a nurse for 55 years, working for many of those years at Mount Washington Nursing Home. Merna married George Robert Johnson on September 1, 1950 in New Auburn, Wisconsin. She and George farmed for a number of years in the Town of Union. Merna is survived by her husband of 55 years; three sons, Jeffrey (Susan) of Eau Claire; Steven (Kim) of Owatonna, Minnesota; Joseph of Eau Claire; one daughter, Jennie (Bill) Stewart of Menomonie; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd (Joanne) Woodmansee of Eau Claire; one sister, Irma Vetter, of Carrollton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Herbert Woodmansee. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Garden of Devotion in the Town of Washington. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
