Michael J. "Hearnzy" Hearn III, age 76, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at his home. Hearnzy was born on August 28, 1940, in Holyoke, MA, to Michael II and Claire (Walsh) Hearn. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School with the Class of 1958. Hearnzy joined the US Army, where he met his Army buddies from Minnesota. He and his buddies then attended St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN, where he graduated with a degree in History with a minor in Political Science. While at St. Cloud State University, he met his future wife, Charlotte Bock. They got married on March 16, 1968, in St. Cloud, MN. Hearnzy was a member of the former American Legion Post 397, in Eau Claire, WI. He was a coach of the American Legion's baseball team for over 15 years. He was a member of Junior Achievement where he taught kids how to be entrepreneurs. He enjoyed golfing, the Red Sox, and his four grandchildren. Hearnzy is survived by his daughter, Shannon Johnson, of Earth; his son, Michael IV (Jenny); his grandchildren, Michael Hearn V, Haley Hearn, Evan Johnson, and Hannah Johnson; his sister, Kathleen Skwira; and friend, Mitch Patrow. He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his grandson, Reece Michael Johnson; his sisters, Anne McHugh and Claire Judith Tedford; and his brother, John Patrick. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Holy Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the VFW Post 305, 1300 Starr Ave, Eau Claire, WI. Private family services will be held at a later date. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services assisted his family.
