MICHAEL "MIKE" J. HUGHES, 10, of 4560 Meadowbrook Court., died Thursday, December 5,1996 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was born October 12, 1986 to Patrick and Jana (Hoendervoogt) Hughes in Oak Park, IL. Mike moved with his family to Eau Claire from Wausau in 1993. He was a member of the fourth grade class at Meadowview Elementary. Mike was an active participant in soccer and hockey, he was currently a member of the Eau Claire Cycle hockey team in the Squirt C league. He enjoyed playing the piano and raising pet rabbits at home with his brothers and sisters.\r\nSurvivors include his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Patrick and two sisters Julie and Sarah all at home; grandparents, Jay and Shirley Hoendervoogt of Hinsdale,IL and Joseph and Winifred Hughes of Laurel Hollow,NY; aunts and uncles, James and Ellen Hughes of Laurel Hollow,NY, Regina and Michael Dowd of Fairfield, CT, Christopher Hughes of Eaton's Neck, NY, Robert and Lisa Amaroso of Melville,NY, Valerie and Jeff Steiner of Lamont,IL, Eva and Michael Field of Clarendon Hills,IL, and Jason Hoendervoogt of Scottsdale,AZ; cousins, Jennifer and Brian Hughes of Laurel Hollow, NY, Jimmy and Kelly Dowd of Fairfield,CT, and Matt and Lauren Field of Clarendon Hills,IL.\r\nThere have been many people throughout Mike's life that have been there for him, especially during his recent serious illness, his family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation.\r\nFuneral services will be at 6 P.M. Monday, at Newman, The Roman Catholic Parish at the Ecumenical Religious Center with Father George R. Szews officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 2 P.M. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and will conclude with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Visitation will also be Monday at the Newman Parish from 3:30 to 6 P.M. prior to services.\r\nThe Family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials may be directed to the Newman Parish in Mike's memory.
