Michael J. Lawrence, 89, of Eau Claire,died on Monday, May 28, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Michael was born in Summit Hill, PA on September 12, 1922, the son of Joseph and Susan (Hrinda) Lawrence.He attended Summit Hill High School in Pennsylvania.Michael entered the U.S. Army and fought in the Invasion of Normandy with the 23rd Infantry. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Michael married Harriet B. Christianson on October 13, 1945, Winona, Minnesota. He worked as a carpenter for Sacred Heart Hospital until his retirement in 1988. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and woodworking. Michael is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Ronald) Matthews of Tucson, AZ; three sons, Michael Lawrence Jr. of Eau Claire, Robert (Julie) Lawrence of Holland, MI, and Mark (Cindy) Lawrence of Wichita, KS; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Scapanda; and sister-in-law, Eva Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Harriet in 2005; brothers, John and Joseph Lawrence; sisters, Margaret (Paul) Gulla and Ella (Glen) Hale. Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel, 900 W. Clairemont Ave, with Msgr. Edmund Klimek officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. Memorials are preferred to Friends of Sacred Heart Hospital.
