Obituary

MICHAEL A. "MIKE" McCLURE, 51, of 3226 Lotus St., died Friday, June 5, 1998 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 8, 1947 in Eau Claire to James and Violet (Olson) McClure. He graduated from Memorial High School with the class of 1965 and then attended U-W Baraboo and Chippewa Valley Technical College. He served as a gunners mate with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk.Mike married Theresa R. Tronsdal at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on October 26, 1984. He was employed at Uniroyal in the sanitation department for twelve years and owned and operated many gun shops in the Eau Claire area, where he looked forward to his work buying, selling and trading guns. \r\nHe was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, VFW Post # 305 and Loyal Order of the Moose # 1408. \r\nHe enjoyed family and friends, his dog and four cats, good food, movies, holidays and loved giving gifts. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Theresa; three sons, Michael and James (Kris) both of Eau Claire, and Shawn of Rochester,MN; a daughter, Mary McClure of Eau Claire; his mother, Violet Andersen of Eau Claire; a brother, David L. (Debbie) Andersen of Platteville; a sister, Vicki (Larry) Hill of San Diego,CA; three step brothers, Terry C. (Patti) Andersen of Eau Claire, Todd E. Andersen and Dale E. (Judy) Andersen of Chippewa Falls; a step-sister, Kris (Al) Polenz of Eau Claire; three special nephews, Daniel Bishop, Daniel S. Andersen and Justin M. Andersen; a special niece, Dayna L. Andersen; and a beautiful goddaughter, Mari Christine Nerbovig.\r\nMike was preceded in death by his father, James McClure; a brother, Daniel McClure; his step-father, Carl E. Andersen; and his special father, Humphrey T. Gilbert.\r\nHis family requests that memorials please be directed to the Eau Claire Humane Assoc. or the Eau Claire YMCA Partner with Youth Program. \r\nMemorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the town of Washington where VFW Post # 305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home is serving the family.
