Michael Christopher Sliva, 38, of Eau Claire, found peace with God on July 13, 2009.\r\nHe was born June 10, 1971, the son of Bob and Nancy (Sorahan) Sliva in Grand Island, NE. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Grand Island. He went on to attend Kearney State, Wayne State, and Hastings College, all in Nebraska.\r\nMike married Cara Ann Schmitz on July 25, 1998, in Eau Claire at the Atrium Bed&Breakfast.\r\nHe worked for Menards, Inc. in Eau Claire and Secluded Land Company in Barron, WI. He also worked as a construction manager for Auth Consulting in Menomonie, T & J Construction, and Piedmont Masonry in Charlotte, NE. Most recently he worked in sales at Northwest Enterprises in Eau Claire.\r\nAmong his many hobbies, were golfing with his dogs, canoeing, and ATVing. He had a passion for being meticulous for the cleanliness of his vehicles. Mike had a soft heart for helping other people. He always had a ready smile, a witty comment, and a charismatic spirit.\r\nMike is survived by his wife, Cara; parents, Bob and Nancy Sliva of Grand Island, NE; three brothers, Jeff (Stacey) Sliva of Grand Island, NE, Tim (Becky) Sliva of Appleton, WI, Gavin Sliva of Grand Island, NE; five nephews, Kolton, Brody, and Sean Sliva, all of Grand Island, NE, Matthew (Dallas) Zimbelman of Lexington, NE, and Mitchell Zimbelman of Archer, NE; a niece, Jessica Zimbelman of Grand Island, NE; aunts and uncles; by father & mother - in-law, Floyd and Virginia Schmitz of Oakes, ND; two brothers-in-law, Steve (Suzanne) Schmitz of Maypearl, TX, and Mark (Becca) Schmitz of Devils Lake, ND; and sister-in-law, Brenda (Jim) Zimbelman of Archer, NE.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Lila Sorahan, Phil and Geraldine Sliva, and by a special grandpa, Bob; and by his three uncles, infant Michael P. Sorahan, Michael S. Sorahan, and Timothy Sorahan.\r\nMemorial Services in Eau Claire will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, 2112 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, with the Rev. Erik G. Nielsen officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the church. Memorial services in Grand Island will be held Saturday, July 18. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery, Grand Island, NE. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services of Eau Claire is serving the family.
