Mildred Mai, 96, of Eau Claire, passed away Tuesday evening, July 11, 2017, at Azura Memory Care. Mildred was born January 8, 1921, in Earl, WI, to Frank & Gladys (Thompson) French. After graduating from Hayward High School, she moved to Eau Claire where she met her future husband, Waldemar (Wally) Mai. They were married on March 2, 1943. Mildred is survived by 2 daughters, Cora (Gary) Klawiter and Lois Mai; 6 grandchildren, Julie (Doug) Hayes, Michael Klawiter, Carol (Miles) Casey, Ben (Gwen) Nemitz, Rusty (Debbie) Nemitz, and Sarah (John) Floyd; 13 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Zachery, Lauren, Erin, Megan, Emily, Giizhik, Brett, Andrew, Mino, Jacob, Dominik, and Lucas; and 1 great-great grandson, Brier; 2 sons-in-law, William Brad Gilbert and Russell Nemitz; and a sister-in-law, Janet French. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 2 daughters, Mary Lynn Gilbert and Jean Nemitz; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Hayes; a sister, Lorraine Godfreson; and 2 brothers, Ronald and Gerald French. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland Ave, Eau Claire, with Pastor Nathan Aaseng officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. The family would like the thank the staff at Azura Memory Care and St. Joseph's Hospice for the wonderful care that Mildred received this past month.
