Obituary

Mildred C. Schmidlin, 90, of Glendale, Arizona and formerly of Eau Claire died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale. She was born in Eleva, WI on October 2, 1916, a daughter of Olaf and Carrie (Eggum) Moe.\r\nShe graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1932 and received her teaching certificate from Eau Claire Teacher's College. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Utah in 1963, and went on to earn her Master's in Special Education from UW- Eau Claire in 1978. Mildred married Casper "Cap" J. Schmidlin in Stillwater, MN on November 24, 1943.\r\nThey were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Eau Claire.\r\nShe started her teaching career at a one room school house near Eleva. In Eau Claire she taught special education at Putnam Heights Elementary, and retired from Lincoln Elementary in the 1970's.\r\nMildred moved to Glendale to live near her daughter Gloria in 1996.\r\nMildred is survived by her daughter, Gloria (Dennis) Nielsen of Glendale; two sons, Kent (Janice) Schmidlin of Lander, WY and Gregory (Andrea) Schmidlin of Elgin, IL; five grandchildren; a great grandson; two sisters, Helen (Hobart) Huntington of Eau Claire and Esther Garnett of Fargo, ND; two foster sisters-in-law, Judy (Richard) Schneider of Sun City, AZ and Donna Gangl of Strongsville, OH; a foster brother-in-law, Peter (Marian) Proctor of Amherst, OH; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Casper in 1975; brother, Charles Moe; sister, Pearl Moe; and brother-in-law, Jack Garnett.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home with Pastor John Van Gorkom officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, please send donations to Oxfam America, 226 Causeway St. 5th floor, Boston, MA 02114 or a charity of your choice.\r\n \r\n
