Mildred I. Thompson, 83, of Eau Claire, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Summit Place Assisted Living in Eden Prairie, MN. She was born in Buffalo County, near Mondovi on July 20, 1929, to Clarence and Milda (Thompson) Ede. She attended Mondovi High School graduating with the class of 1947. Mildred married William S. Thompson on October 16, 1948, at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Mildred attended El Camino College in California. She retired as a supervisor for AT&T in 1989. After retirement she enjoyed many volunteering positions, including a lawyer referral service at the Torrance Superior Courthouse. She and Bill lived in Torrance, California for several years, returning back to Eau Claire in 1992. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Telephone Pioneers. Survivors include her three daughters, Connie Clarke of Bloomington, MN, Cathie Rao and Christine Jalbert both of Eau Claire; her son, David (Julie) Thompson of Eden Prairie, MN; six grandchildren, Angela Clarke, Shaun Rao, Nicole Jalbert, Marisa, Nathan and Kieran Thompson; four sisters, Carol Ede of Eau Claire, Joyce (Bill) Ockel of Colorado, Shirley Ede of California, and Barbara (John) Erickson of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William in 2004; and a brother, Leonard Ede. Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3214 Golf Road, in Eau Claire, with Pastor David K. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
