MILTON E. JOHNSON, 78, 315 W. Fillmore Ave., died Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Luther Hospital. He was born in Eau Claire on September 11, 1922, the son of Sigurd and Eva (Johnson) Johnson. Milton grew up in Eau Claire graduating from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1940. \r\nHe entered the U.S. Navy on September 29, 1942 and was honorably discharged on December 3, 1945. Milton married Betty C. Howard on July 15, 1944 in Milwaukee. They lived in Milwaukee and Oakland, CA, returning to Eau Claire following World War II. He worked over 34 years as a sales representative for Lane Furniture Company, Alta Vista, Virginia, until retiring in 1983. Following retirement, Milton and Betty enjoyed wintering in Arizona and Mexico.\r\nMilton was a devoted family man.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Betty; five children, Judy Peterson of Fall Creek, Brad of Chippewa Falls, Sheila Wright and Anita Twin both of Eau Claire, and Ellen (Jerry) Carroll of Cannon Falls, MN; eighteen wonderful grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Ray Miller and Kevin Killam officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where V.F.W. Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. \r\n
