Obituary

Milton Carl Peterson, 91, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. He was born in Eau Claire on September 4, 1914, the son of Arthur and Bergliot (Hverven) Peterson.\r\nMilton graduated from Eau Claire Senior High in 1932. He had many fond memories working at Jensen's Drug Store while attending Eau Claire State Teachers College. He earned a degree in secondary education in 1943.\r\nMilton enlisted in the National Guard Horse Calvary February 2, 1933, at Eau Claire. He was honorably discharged August 15, 1934. He married Cornelia J. Meier of Eau Claire on March 28, 1943, at Grace Lutheran Church. In April Milton was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corp-Medical Corp. As a medic, he was stationed at O'Reilly General Hospital, Buckingham Air Field and Lincoln Air Field. He was honorably discharged on February 21, 1946.\r\nMilton began his career at the U.S. Rubber Co., Eau Claire, the summer of 1946, in Product Control. In 1970, he was transferred to the new Uniroyal Plant in Ardmore, OK. He retired and moved back to Eau Claire in 1977. \r\nHe served on the Eau Claire School Board for 18 years; was a 50 year member of the Eau Claire Masonic Lodge #112 F&AM and a member of the Golden Kiwanis Club. Milton was a member of Grace Lutheran church, and served on its Board when they built the M.B. Syverson Home (Syverson Lutheran Home) where he resided over four years.\r\nHe enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, building projects, and also loved to share a few minutes with everyone.\r\nMilton is survived by his wife, Cornelia; son, David (Jane) of Eau Claire; daughter Suzanne (David) Pardue of Edmond, OK; four grandsons, Brett Peterson, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Joel (Melissa) Pardue of Falls Church, VA, Blake Pardue of Brooklyn, NY, and Logan Pardue of Norman, OK; a sister-in-law, Winifred Krause of Eau Claire, and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Jerry, Dorothy, Bernice, and Mabel.\r\nDad, we will think of you often, and love and cherish you always.\r\nA special thanks to the staff at Syverson Lutheran Home for their thoughtful care. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.
