Obituary

Murceil E. Opsal, 78, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. She was born in Menomonie, WI, on July 24, 1931, a daughter of Elwood and Gladys (Peck) Cleasby. She graduated from Menomonie High School. \r\nMurceil married Lloyd S. Opsal on October 1, 1949, in Menomonie.\r\nShe was a member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church and its P.C.C.W. women's group.\r\nMurceil loved her family and being with them. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, playing cards and holiday baking for family and friends.\r\nMurceil is survived by four sons, Scott (Beth) of Chippewa Falls, Royce (Dawn) of Altoona, Darrin (Chris) and Joel both of Eau Claire; five daughters, Jessina Dineen of Chippewa Falls, Renee (Dave) Nichols of Whitehall, Nadine Clemans of Pataskala, OH, Tina (John) Rohde and Serena Russo both of Eau Claire; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; her sister, Allamae Edwards of Menomonie; and many nieces, nephew, and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd; a son, Bruce; great-granddaughter, Kari Holum; her brother, Elwood "Buzz" Cleasby; and a son-in-law, Michael C. Dineen. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 12:00 (Noon), on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., Eau Claire, with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Menomonie. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (Today) Sept. 30th at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. There will be a 6:30 p.m. Public Prayer Vigil Wednesday at the funeral Home. \r\n
