Murvin G. Johnson, 100, of Eau Claire died Thursday, September 27, 2007, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. He was a resident at Heritage Assisted Living.\r\nHe was born in Prairie Farm, WI on April 26, 1907, the son of Albert and Lena (Dahl) Johnson.\r\nMurvin graduated from Rice Lake High School with the class of 1926. He graduated from the Platteville Mining School with a Civil Engineering Degree in 1930.\r\nMurvin married Frances L. Johanns on July 3, 1933, at First Methodist Church in Platteville. \r\nHis career included working as an Engineer for the Wisconsin State Highway Department, Civil Engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense during World War II, after the war served as Barron County Engineer, and retired in 1972 as Chief Engineer for the Chequamegon National Forest stationed in Park Falls.\r\nHe was a 50+ year member of Park Falls Masonic Lodge #300, and George B. Wheeler Lodge #351 F &AM in Eau Claire. \r\nMurvin is survived by his wife, Frances; daughter, Marlene (David) Arntson of Eau Claire; son, Paul (Linda) Johnson of Iron River; six grandchildren, Kathryn (Kent) Gierhart, Kirsten (Brian) Gierhart, Kari (Craig) Walter, Lisa (John) Johnson-Heim, Derek (Beth) Johnson, and Renee von Loesch; thirteen great grandchildren, Katrina, Kisja, Christopher, Colin, and Cory Gierhart, Alexis and Sam Heim, Park and Lydia Walter, Gabrielle and Claire Johnson, and Kalea and Kaija von Loesch; sister-in-law, Dea Johnson of Shawno; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nMurvin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Lester; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Lake St. United Methodist Church with the Rev. Graham N. West officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville.
