Obituary

Myrtle R. Halvorsen, 92, formerly of 2628 Trindal Street, Eau Claire, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls. She was born in Eau Claire on December 19, 1910, the daughter of Theodore and Kari (Hatleli) Nesja. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School.\r\nMyrtle married Leonard C. Halvorsen on April 21, 1930 in Eau Claire.\r\nDuring World War II she worked at National Presto Industries. Later, Myrtle worked at Aanes Photography Studio where she retired from in 1956.\r\nShe was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church.\r\nSurvivors include her three sons, Donald (Joan) of Eau Claire, Marvin of Kenosha and Mervin of Chippewa Falls; her daughter Caroleen Salter of Bruce; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nMyrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard in 1976; daughter-in-law, Betty Halvorsen; five brothers, Ole, Englebert, Christopher, Ben and Bud; and three sisters, Karen Crank, Barb Nesja and Ethel Halvorsen.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003 at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Frederick W. Thieste officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at church.
