Obituary

Myrtle Olsvig Nelson, 86, of 721 Main Street, Eau Claire died Saturday, August 17, 1996 at her home. She was born September 28, 1909 in the Town of Arland, Barron County Wisconsin to Ole and Emma (Eng) Olsvig. Myrtle married William F. "Bill" Nelson in Taylors Falls, MN on June 7, 1930. She retired from Uniroyal in July 1974 after 29 years of service. Myrtle was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, its Lydia Circle, Retired Rubber Workers Local #109, a former member of Sons of Norway Loven Lodge #29, and had been active with the Salvation Army. \r\nSurvivors include her husband, Bill; two sons, William V. (Gerd) of Bloomington,MN; and Frederick (Dolores) of Madison; two daughters, Janet (Gorden) Field of Eau Claire and "Sheri" Murphy of Altamonte Springs,FL; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; three step great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eleanor (Les) Hanson of Cameron, Edna Smith of Eau Claire, Evelyn (Ken) Jayne of Arlington Heights, IL; and Violet (Al) Sass of Sister Bay; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Olsvig of Cameron; many nieces, nephews and friends.\r\nShe was preceded in death by a brother, George Olsvig and a sister, Gladys Gerland.\r\nMyrtle will be remember as a gentle, tender hearted mother who enjoyed reading, visiting with old friends, and ready to make new acquaintances as she went about her day.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Barbara A. Koch officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery, Town of Washington. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
