Obituary

Nancy (Heiman) Johnson Nancy Ann (Heiman) Johnson, age 78, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Dove Healthcare-West Eau Claire, with her family by her side after a long battle with heart related complications and Lewy Body Dementia. Nancy was also being attended to by St. Joseph's Hospice. Nancy Heiman was born June 11, 1937 in Eau Claire, WI to John "Jack" and Frances (Modl) Heiman. In 1956, she graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School. She worked as a waitress at Kresge's in Eau Claire until she later became a stay at home mom for her five children. In 1956, at one of her favorite places to go, Fournier's Ballroom, Nancy met the love of her life, Marvin E. Johnson. They were married the following year at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on June 22, 1957. In their 57th year of marriage, after Marvin's many years at Dove Healthcare they were again re-united and shared a room at Dove for the final two months of Marvin's life on earth. Nancy had a very deep love for God and was faithful in her bible and devotional readings. During her time as a stay at home mom for her five children, Nancy enjoyed many years of collections and hobbies. Her collections included Angels, Bells, and Plates. She also enjoyed making family meals, baking cakes (especially her famous banana cake), and baking her Christmas cookies (many, many buckets of different varieties) each year. Everyone that visited Nancy and Marvin in their home on 14th Street would be treated to many holiday decorations, both inside and outside. There wasn't a holiday she didn't decorate for. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at many different locations where she might have the chance to yell out BINGO!! Nancy is survived by her daughter Jackie (Steve) Hansen, of Altoona, and sons, Rick (Carol) of Phoenix, AZ, Ken of Altoona, Kevin and Darrin (Cyndi) both of Eau Claire; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jerry (Betty) Heiman of Altoona, Steve (Marty) Heiman of Eau Claire, and her three sisters, Janet (Dean) Huus of Remer, MN, Diana (Bob) Alitz of Strum, and Sharon (Bernie) Gavre of Eau Claire. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jeannine (Johnson) Capaul of Alma Center and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Heiman, her in-laws, Melvin Johnson and Geneva (nee Benrud) Price, her loving husband of 56 years, Marvin, her brothers, John "Jackie" and Bobby, a sister-in-law, Yvonne (nee Johnson) Heath; and granddaughter, Annie. The Johnson family is very grateful to all the wonderful staff at Dove Healthcare-West and St. Joseph's Hospice for the great care they have provided the family over the past several years.
