Obituary

Nellie Irene Schultz, 94, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Clairemont Nursing Home.\r\nNellie was born in Iron Creek Township, Wisconsin on October 14, 1915, to Fred and Allie Rank. Neighbors, John and Adeline Sipple raised Nellie after her father's death at a young age.\r\nShe married LeRoy A. Schultz on May 7, 1937, in Menomonie, Wisconsin where they lived until 1960. Roy and Nellie then moved to Eau Claire where she took care of many college students as a "House Mother." Nellie then became known as the "Cookie Lady" of Shawtown along with being the evening chief for the telephone company for 42 years. \r\nShe was a member of First Baptist Church for many years and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. \r\nNellie is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Cleasby of Eau Claire; granddaughter, Kristine Cleasby of Eau Claire; great-granddaughter, Kyrie Cleasby; son-in-law, Fred Cleasby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy in 1994; sisters, Mabel and Ruth; and brothers: James, Gilbert, Bert, Adolph "Duff" and Ben. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Goins officiating. Burial will be in Iron Creek United Methodist Cemetery, Town of Spring Brook. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
