NETTIE I. SLY, 91, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation North in the town of Eagle Point. She was born in a sod hut on her parents horse ranch in Seim, SD on June 24, 1909, the daughter of George and Cora (Prosser) Sylvester.\r\nNettie moved with her family to Ladysmith, WI, where she met her future husband, Hugh Sly. They were married on November 25, 1927 in St. Paul, MN. They soon moved to Eau Claire, where Nettie has resided ever since. She has been significant in the lives of several children out side of her family in caring and raising them during their youth.\r\nShe resided many years at Grace Barstow Apts. \r\nShe was a member of Plymouth United Church of Christ. Survivors include her son Allan (Betty) Sly of Spooner; three grandchildren, Mike (Bonnie) Sly, Randy Sly, and Teresa Sly, all of Minneapolis; two great-grandsons, Matt and Eric; and Darlene Atkinson of Scottsdale, AZ, who was very special to Nettie.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband Hugh in 1975, and a sister Letha Meuret.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Chris W. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the town of Washington. Friends may call an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.\r\n
