Nicholas Henry Loechler, 89, of Elk Mound, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Colfax Nursing&Rehabilitation.\r\nNicholas was born in Wabasha, MN on March 31, 1920, a son of Nicholas and Lillie (Eide) Loechler.\r\nHe married Elaine M. Amundson on October 15, 1955, in Springbrook Lutheran Church.\r\nFor most of his career he was self employed as Loechler the Bakers's Friend in the bakery supply and yeast business. Before retiring, he was a salesman for Curtis Industries.\r\nNicholas served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. \r\nHe was a member of Spring Brook Lutheran Church and was very active in his community having served on school, village and Dunn County Boards.\r\nNicholas is survived by his wife, Elaine; his daughter, Ann Loechler of Spooner; a son, David (Carolyn) of Elk Mound; grandchildren, Matthew, Theresa, Christina, and Nicholas Loechler; a brother, Elmer (Marilyn) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Lillie; a sister, Della Holgrimson; a brother, Ronnie.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Spring Brook Lutheran Church, Spring Brook Township, with Alan Millen officiating. Burial will be in Spring Brook Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #53. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.\r\n
