Nicholas Serino, 89, of Eau Claire, WI, and formerly of Redlands, CA, died on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Syverson Lutheran Home. \r\nHe was born on March 28, 1921 in Exeter, PA, the son of Anthony and Columba (Belli) Serino. \r\nNick grew up in Brooklyn, New York. His grade school and high school years were spent in Hershey, PA, at the Hershey School for Boys. He graduated from Temple University with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy, and starred as the quarterback for the Temple University football team.\r\nNick worked as the Chief, in the Physical Therapy Service at several East Coast V.A. Hospitals. Later he worked in the V.A. Central Office, Office of Construction, in Washington D.C. He developed the criteria requirements for renovation in existing V.A. Facilities, and new facilities under construction. Before retirement from the V.A., he was involved in developing the requirements for affiliations between Medical Schools and V.A. Hospitals.\r\nHe loved golf and was a great athlete. \r\nNick is survived by his wife, Jane Marie of Eau Claire; and a son, Nicholas (Sharon) Serino of Simpsonville, SC. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Patricia Serino; and three sisters.\r\nPrivate services will be held at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
