Obituary

Nora L. Pierce, 95, passed away Monday, May 23, 2005, at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation in Eau Claire. She was born February 5, 1910, in Eleva to Sidvart and Thea (Tollefson) Semingson.\r\nNora married Arbie "Jack" Pierce on September 2, 1946, at the Eleva Lutheran Church Parsonage. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church over forty years, and enjoyed regular visits with Rev. Theiste during recent years.\r\nNora spent her childhood years in the farming community of Eleva. At the age of 16 she traveled to the big city of St. Paul, MN where she was employed as a housekeeper for prominent residents there. Later she returned to Eau Claire and spent her adult life there. She worked for her sister, Anna, who ran a boarding house; she was employed at Huebsch Laundry, Sterling Pulp&Paper and the Mt. Washington Home. She retired in 1970. \r\nNora and her husband, Jack, enjoyed many years together going on vacations, dancing and spending good times with friends and relatives. She will be remembered as a loving, caring mother and grandmother. Nora had a wonderful rapport with her nieces, nephews and friends. She was known for her spunk and good humored wit. \r\nShe is survived by her daughter, Darleen Bauer of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Sheri (Robert) Kremer of Jim Falls , Lisa (Elmer) Winter of Durand, Jacqueline (Daniel) Lehman of Baldwin, Colette (Donald) Weiss of Durand and John (Nichelle) Bauer of Troy MI; fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; a step-daughter, Estelle (Gerald )Watson of Eau Claire; three step - grandchildren, Susan (Keith) Nuutinen of Tomah, Thomas (Cheryl) Watson of Altoona and Kathleen Gilson of Tomah; and four step great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Semingson of Strum and Doris Semingson of Eleva, and many nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arbie "Jack" Pierce, in 1987; her son, Deloy Gene Semingson, who was killed in Korea in 1950; a grandson, Deloy John; a great grandson, Jonathon Lehman; a step-grandson, Matthew Watson; three sisters, Selma Todahl, Tilla Hanson and Anna Hanson; and six brothers, Oscar, Curnell, Herman, Alvin, Odin, and Peder Semingson.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1:30 p .m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Frederick W. Theiste officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
