Norbert "Nubbs" D. Hagmann, 84, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. \r\nNorbert was born in Eau Claire on August 15, 1924, the son of Michael and Mary (Stopfer) Hagmann. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1942. \r\nHe served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.\r\nHe married Betty J. Sippel on June 12, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eau Claire.For most of their 61 years of marriage they lived in Eau Claire and raised six children together.\r\nNorbert worked as a Master Craftsman in the building trade for Vaudreuil Lumber Company, Tony Walker, Les Flatten, Frosty Raether, and was later in partnership with Howard Janke.\r\nHe was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion Post #53, VFW Post #305, and the Carpenters Union.\r\nNorbert enjoyed small game hunting, ice fishing, and golf. Following retirement he liked to do jigsaw puzzles, reading, and wintering in Florida.\r\nNorbert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; five children; Juli Hagmann of Seattle, WA, Charles (Terri) Hagmann of Footville, WI, Paul Hagmann of Eau Claire, Lori (Frank) Kinsey of Cottage Grove, MN, Vicki (Mark) Knutson of Eau Claire; a sister, Bernice Kassing of Eau Claire; also by sisters-in-law, Mary Claire, Pauline, and Rose Hagmann, Viola (Robert) Davey, and Mary Sippel; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Jan), Reb, Stephanie (Adam), Ashley, Kyle, Kevin, Matthew, and Timothy; two great-grandchildren, twins, Annelisa and Erin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Christopher; and five brothers, Lawrence, Alfred, Arthur, Richard, and Rev. James Hagmann; two sisters, Marie Steubing, and Eleanor Feeney; three brothers in law, Howard Steubing, Joseph Feeney, and Harold Kassing; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Hagmann.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Eau Claire with Father James Kurzynzki celebrating the Mass. Burial with Military Rites Conducted by VFW Post #305 will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to Mass Tuesday at church. A public vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
