Norman R. Schmidt, 79, of Eau Claire died Friday, July 22, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Norman was born November 13, 1925, the son of William and Martha (Lehman) Schmidt in New Auburn, Wisconsin.\r\nNorman served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1947. He married Leola Adams on August 5, 1951. Leola died in 1989. He married Jeannette Nelson on November 28, 1998. \r\nNorm worked for the Farmer Store in various capacities for 50 years, but was best known in the hardware department. He was also cherished for his abilities and willingness to help others with any repairs or project work. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping at Connors Lake, and most recently spending time at his trailer on Island Lake with friends and family. Norm enjoyed wintering in Georgia.\r\nNorm is survived by his wife, Jeannette; two sons, Allen (Barb) of Clarksville, TN, and Mark (Cindy) of Merrill, WI; two daughters, Jan (Bill) White of Elk Mound, and Gale (Jeff) Jevne, of Eau Claire; his grandchildren, Tori Jevne (Chad Nyseth), Lance Jevne, Jessica (Ryan) Erickson, Adam White, Carina Schmidt, Vaughan Schmidt, Aneliese Schmidt, Jennifer Nicolai, Heather (Steve) Bubolz, Michael (Angel) Goike, and Nathan Goike; great grandchildren, Brett Bubolz, Shaina and Levi Erickson, and Arianna Degner; step-children, Gary Nelson, Jeff (Betty) Nelson, Gail Nelson, and Kevin Nelson; step grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, Jacque, and Jenny Nelson; three brothers, Karl (Dorothy) Schmidt of Marshfield, Lowell (Betty) Schmidt, of Ladysmith, and Lyle Schmidt of Bruce; two sisters, Helen (Victor) Springer and Lorraine Calkins, both of Rice Lake; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Leola.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, with Pastor John Hosmann officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Lenmark Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.\r\n
